What's the difference between an objective and a measure?

An objective is the goal — "Get fitter." A measure is a number you track to know whether you're getting there — "Weight," "Runs per week." Objectives give the why; measures give the evidence. You attach measures to objectives.

What's the difference between a measure and a habit?

A measure tracks a value over time (weight, revenue, steps). A habit is a recurring behaviour you tick off to build a streak (meditate, no alcohol). A habit is really a simple kind of measure focused on consistency rather than a number.

What's the difference between a habit and an action?

A habit recurs — you do it again and again and build a streak. An action is a one-off task with a finish line — "Book the venue" — that goes from open to done. Recurring behaviour → habit. Single task → action.

What's a Key Result? What's the difference between a measure KR and a milestone KR?

A Key Result is a measure you've marked as a target for an objective. A measure KR is a number plus a target and period ("Weight ≤ 80kg this quarter") — success is a number crossing a line. A milestone KR is a binary, dated outcome ("Ship v2 by Jul 31") — success is a specific thing happening by a date.

What's the difference between an event and a milestone?

A milestone is the plan: a dated outcome you declare on an objective, and it starts pending. An event is the receipt: a record that something happened, logged after the fact. Logging an event that satisfies a milestone marks the milestone achieved. See Events & Milestones for the full picture.

What does "satisfies" vs "informs" mean when I log an event?

Satisfies links the event to a pending milestone and marks it achieved — the thing you were aiming for happened. Informs just adds the event to the objective's timeline as useful context, without completing any goal.

I picked the wrong milestone (or logged the wrong event) — can I undo it?

Yes. You can edit or delete an event, and you can un-satisfy a milestone to send it back to pending. Un-satisfying keeps the event itself — it still happened; it just no longer completes that milestone.

How do I record a value for a past day?

On the Today tab, move the date back to the day you missed, then record as normal. The value lands on that day rather than today.

What are Lead Indicators?

Lead indicators are the inputs you can control that drive your Key Results. "Runs per week" is a lead indicator for the "Weight" Key Result. Tracking them tells you early whether the outcome is likely to follow.

What's the difference between the Today tab and the Plan tab?

Today is for daily capture — recording values and ticking habits for a given day. Plan is for stepping back and organising your objectives and what you're tracking. Capture in Today, arrange in Plan.

Can I connect an AI agent to rcordr?

Yes. You can create a scoped access token in Settings and use the local MCP server or the REST API, or add the hosted connector by URL and sign in — then an agent can read your data and log measures and events for you. Read and write access are separate scopes, and destructive account operations are never exposed.
